Districts

Representative Dennis M. Reboletti (R-Elmhurst) participated in a check
presentation this morning reimbursing Bensenville School District #2 and
Fenton Community High School District #100 for lost property tax revenue due
to the expansion of O’Hare Airport. The College of DuPage will also receive
some of the funds.
State Representatives Reboletti and Skip Saviano co-sponsored House Bill
1302 to require the City of Chicago to reimburse school districts for lost
tax revenue. Through continued negotiations between the legislators and
officials from the City of Chicago, an agreement was made to return the lost
tax revenue. A check was presented to the local school districts for
$805,366.99 representing a combination of advanced payment for 2006 property
taxes and the remainder of the 2005 property tax.
Fenton Community High School District Superintendent Dr. Alf Logan, thanked
the legislators on behalf of the board for their efforts and for their
commitment to the students of the district.
“I will continue to work with local and state officials as well as the
O’Hare Modernization Program to get these funds into the 46th District. I
don’t want to see the quality of our children’s education suffer due to the
expansion of O’Hare Airport,” Reboletti said. “It’s important for the
families of Wood Dale and Bensenville to get these reimbursements to make
their school districts whole. I remain committed to that goal,” he added.
Representative Reboletti has made getting promised funds from the O’Hare
Modernization Program into the district one of his top priorities during his
first term in office. He sponsored House Bill 3451 which provided that the
City of Chicago must reimburse all taxing districts, rather than only school
districts and community college districts, for lost tax revenue resulting
from the city's acquisition of property for the O'Hare Modernization
Program.
